After weeks of rain - an immersive audio experience is released

On November 4th, an exciting new immersive audio experience was released by Soundworlds. Soundworlds is a new concept in the world of Podcasting. The vision is to tell diverse stories in extraordinary ways. A company that is an audio stage, hosting new sonic theatre with contributions from musicians, artists, and theatre-makers. A truly immersive experience in the world of storytelling. The season is supported by Arts Council England.

I was honoured to be asked to perform their first release of this season. The piece is called After Weeks of Rain and is adapted from Pulitzer Prize nominated Christopher Cerrone’s album Liminal Highway. Liminal Highway was originally commissioned by Miller Theatre at Columbia University and New Music USA. The music was composed by Christopher Cerrone, flute by Timothy Munro, and it was written by Stephanie Fleischmann. Patrick Eakin Young was the director.

In this intense, emotional piece, we take an audio journey following a woman who is chasing a mysterious figure through an urban dreamscape to the sound of shimmering flute. Experiencing the uncertainty felt between sleeping and waking and glimpsing the elasticity of our lives, the tremor of our memories and the urge for the reunification of the self.

This piece was extremely technical and emotional to record. A long 4 hour session meant that I truly felt I put my heart and soul to the test, and my technical knowledge! It was so wonderful to work with Director Patrick Eakin Young on his vision, and I’m excited that we can now share it with the world. You can immerse yourself at www.soundworlds.org, Spotify or your favourite podcast app. I shall put a few links below for you to follow.

It was so wonderful to work on, and even more wonderful to listen back with everything together. The music and soundscape are truly magical! Ensure you listen with headphones on to truly immerse yourself in this piece of art.
