One Voice Award Nominations!
The nominations list is out for the One Voice Awards 2021 and I’m over the moon to be nominated for two Voiceover awards this year! I’m up for Best Gaming Performance (Female) and Female Voiceover of the Year. After winning Best Gaming Performance and Best E-Learning Performance in 2020 I am thrilled to be back in the mix for the awards this year!
The competition has been tough this year, and after a tumultuous 2020 it is so nice to have recognition for the work we all did – and all mainly from our home studios! It’s a little unprecedented as so many studios had to shut in 2020 so suddenly, voice artists had to make sure their home studios were up to scratch! I was fortunate as I have been set up for 5 years so nothing had to change, but what I love about the awards this year is that it mainly comes from the homes of the voiceovers, and it shows how good it can sound to those who felt they had to shell out on expensive studio time! Don’t get me wrong, I love being back in the studios in London now, but I am pleased that production companies across the world now know there’s an alternative.
The One Voice Awards is an ethical awards ceremony, nobody knows who the judges are so there’s no bribery or working together, the entries put forward for nominations are anonymous so the judges aren’t swayed by reputation, and it’s free to enter so there’s no elitism and anyone who has worked in Voiceover can enter! This one is important to me as I feel very strongly about elitism in the entertainment industry. The cost of training, equipment and even just support ,rules out anyone who isn’t in the financial position to follow this career path. I hope we can work together to put a stop to this somehow.
